Buy an electric scooter - Would it be something for me?
Benefits, advantages and application of electric scooters
They can now be found in almost every major city in the world-and for good reason: electric scooters are environmentally friendly, make no noise and are particularly cheap to maintain.
In addition, they offer exhaust-free driving and a cost point of less than one franc in electricity costs for around one hundred kilometres of e-scooter range. But what should you consider if you want to buy an E Scooter?
What models of electric scooters are available?
There is a lot of choice on the market, and not every model is equally suitable for every user. Here is a brief overview of the different e-scooter models.
An E Scooter is basically nothing more than an electric pedal scooter as we know it from our childhood, except that the propulsion is just not by independent pedalling, but by an electric motor. They are perfect for short distances, and with them you can escape the dreaded shortage of parking spaces and traffic jams on the way to work.
Electric scooters make great sense especially in city traffic. There are roadworthy versions of electric scooters, which in Switzerland fall under the category of light motorised bicycles. Power is supplied by a rechargeable battery, which can be removed from many models and taken with you.
Some of the models on our website belong to the category of E scooters with road approval, i.e. they may be ridden on public roads or bicycles. Electric scooters without road approval may only be used on private property. Weighing less than twenty kilos, many scooters are also easy to fold up and take with you
E Cruisers are the slightly "fatter" version of electric scooters. They look like an e-scooter with a seat, and some models of this sub-type of electric scooter resemble something in between a bicycle and an e-scooter. They usually have a higher weight and also fall under the category of light motorcycles.
Here the term E scooter is used in the sense of small motorbike rather than E pedal scooter. In terms of style, these electric scooters are reminiscent of the classic Vespa, for example, i.e. more like a kind of electric moped, and can be ridden in Switzerland from the age of sixteen with an A1 driving licence. This type of e-scooter, which looks like an electric scooter again, requires a licence plate, which can, however, be applied for without any problems.
What should I look for when buying an electric scooter?
On the internet you can find many an e-scooter test and most certainly an electric scooter price comparison, all of which are certainly helpful. However, don't rely exclusively on the electric scooter test, but consider your needs and requirements first and foremost.
If the scooter is to be used for commuting to work or school, do you absolutely need an e-scooter with a registration? And of course you should also pay attention to battery life and range. With a range of around thirty kilometres for most e-scooter models, they are perfect for short journeys. If your e-scooter is foldable, it can easily be taken along on public transport.
However, make sure that it weighs less than fifteen kilos. Of course, your scooter should be sturdily built and, in case maintenance and repairs become necessary, spare parts should be readily available.

Electric scooter costs
Depending on the workmanship and model, the purchase costs naturally differ greatly. When comparing, be aware that cheap e-scooters are not always the best for their needs and it can often be worth spending more money on the purchase.
With regular use, electricity costs amount to around ten francs a year. If you want to take out e-scooter insurance, the annual costs are higher, but you have all-round cover.
